Ensuring Canada’s working landscapes remain biologically diverse and resilient

A McGill-led research network will monitor and model the benefits people obtain from nature in six working landscapes across Canada, through studies co-designed with local industry, government, NGO, and Indigenous partners. In addition to food, energy and timber, the researchers will focus on “ecosystem services” such as carbon storage, flood regulation, recreation and spiritual enhancement.
